Beginning to End: An Intern Developer Spotlight

Learn more about TEAM’s newest intern and our former intern-turned new employee.

Developing future developers. That’s the goal of TEAM’s developer intern program. Internships are a great way for employers to tap into new talent, especially in an industry that shifts and evolves as fast as the technology industry. From the intern perspective, it’s a great way to gain valuable work experience. And because TEAM takes a hands-on project approach to our intern program, we sometimes get the benefit of having interns join our team as full-time employees — complete with first-hand, real-world experience.

Here’s a little bit about two individuals who have a perspective on the program from beginning to end — the new to the block summer intern and the recent intern/graduate welcomed as a new employee. Take a minute and learn a little bit about Mitchell and William.

I’m a software developer, working on the new workforce management solution.

Where are you from?

Flower Mound, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.

School and degree?

I graduated from Iowa State University in May 2019, with a degree in Software Engineering.

What about TEAM made you interested in accepting the internship last summer?

When talking to employees here at TEAM, everyone was excited about creating new products and was very driven.

What about the internship made you want to start a full-time position with TEAM?

TEAM valued me as an intern and treated me like a full-time employee. Some internships work on side projects which are ultimately thrown away. At TEAM, I was working on the live code and actually making changes to the product.

What are you most excited about with your new position at TEAM?

I’m excited to be working with my new team, and I really enjoy the technologies used in TEAM’s software development.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

The one thing I know for certain is I want to be helping everyday people with technology-based solutions. Improving the lives of those around me and those less privileged is something I want to do for the rest of my life.

Favorite vacation destination?

Cozumel — swimming with all the marine life was an amazing sight to see. And, I would really love to visit Scotland someday too.

Sweet or salty?

Definitely salty. Chips and salsa are life.

Which TEAM value speaks to you?

Do more.

If you could have a super power what would it be?

Teleportation — just imagine all the extra time gained!

We’re excited to add Mitchell and William to the TEAM family and have them help us continue to define what’s next.
